Meet The Team – Alan

Alan has been with Isaac Lord for 30 years this month. He started in our Tool Shop in 1989 before moving into our Sales office in the early 2000's. Many of you have probably spoken with him over the years, but did you know.....

What was your background before joining Isaac Lord?

Before joining Isaac Lord I was working in Marlow doing Retail Sales.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Helping customers to make the right decision and ensuring that they get exactly what they want.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

Dealing with customers that aren't 100% sure what it is that they need and ensuring that their expectations are met when the products arrive.

If your colleagues could describe you in three words what would they be?

Better ask them!

What was your first job?

When I was 16 I worked in the Classic Cinema in Camberley.

What is the one thing that you couldn't live without?

Music - in particular funk, soul and Motown.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

People who are lazy or expect everything to be done for them.

If you could swap places with anyone for a day, who would it be?

Derek Watkins - specifically playing on the Goldfinger soundtrack in 1964.

Tell us something that you get up to in your spare time?

I play the trumpet in various bands and can often be spotted on stage at the Jazz Cafe in Reading. Other than that I mostly enjoy spending time with my family.
